The Wildcards are always looking for individuals that share their love for the game of airsoft, play honorably, and are searching for that next challenge or National Op. Individuals that are interested in becoming a Wildcard must attend the Basic Training course.

Basic Training Course: This course is designed to test the recruit physically, mentally, and to stress team dynamics. During the Basic Training course, the individual will be taught the basics of what it is to be a Wildcard, and evaluated on how they interact and fit within the existing team dynamic.

There are three primary areas of emphasis during Basic Training: Attitude, Aptitude and Physical Fitness.

Attitude: First and foremost our team is a bunch of guys that enjoy airsofting together. Our team is not simply a bunch of individuals thrown together. It is a group of friends that want to get the most out of their time airsofting, both on and off the field. Overall, Basic Training is an attitude check to see if a recruit is a good fit for the team, and for the recruit to see if the Wildcards are a good fit for them. Not all Airsoft teams are the same, and the last thing they want to have happen is for someone to spend a year with the team, only to then decide that it wasn't a good fit, or the Wildcard mentality doesn't match their playstyle.

Aptitude: In general the Wildcards are not looking for the first time out, wet behind the ears airsofter. The Wildcards are looking for the player that has spent some time learning the basics of Airsoft and is ready to take their personal game to the next level. Recruits will be taught several key skills that they will be expected to learn and to implement quickly. This will be much harder for the individual that is still trying to figure out how to adjust their hop-up on their AEG. Yet at the same time you don't have to be the most experienced player such as someone that has attended 5 operations every year and knows the Ranger Handbook by heart. But as a Wildcard, it is expected to show a willingness to learn, and to practice what you learn.

Physical Fitness: The Wildcards are a team that likes to get the job done, and most of the time the job is not right in front of you. The team has to move to contact, and sometimes move to avoid contact. Each recruit needs to be able to at least keep up with the team, and not slow the team down or prevent them from making an objective. The minimum physical requirement is different for the Alpha team and the Bravo/Reserve team..

For exact entry requirements (including physical fitness requirements) for each team, please click on either of the following links:
Alpha or Bravo/Reserve

Once a recruit passes Basic Training they are added to the Reserve Team . Some players may opt to stay a Reserve member indefinitely, while others may be interested in becoming an Bravo or Alpha Team member. While on any team, individuals will be evaluated for their committment, communication skills, airsoft skills, physical fitness, determination, attitude, and aptitude.

Bravo Qualification Once a reserve member has spent some time on the team, at least 1 Mission, Skirmish or Operation, they are eligible to start their Bravo training. Bravo hopefuls must be instructed and pass several qualification classes from either a senior Bravo member or any Alpha member. The qualification classes are as follows:
Map reading and Land navigation
Reacting to contact (Battle Drills)
Communications
Special weapons (SAW, M203, DMR)
Basic Tactics

They are also assigned a mentor (an existing Bravo) that is tasked with making sure the person is up to par. Once the individual is signed off on each class, they will particiapate in a BRAVO evaluation day. Upon completion of the evaluation and meeting the basic Bravo requirements, the individual will be added the Bravo unit, receive their wildcard patch and promoted to the rank of private first class.

Alpha Selection is held aperiodically and is an invitation only event. The Wildcard Selection Course is a two consecutive day (Saturday and Sunday) course that is run by the existing Alpha Team members. Wildcard Selection is very physical, emotional, and mentally demanding course the emphasizes the minimum skills required of an Alpha Team Member. If the Alpha team candidate passes the 2 day selection course, then they move on to attending a Qualification Course if deemed needed.

After the candidate has completed selection, the existing Alpha Team members will discuss the candidate performance, and conduct a vote for candidate acceptance.  This vote must be unanimous in acceptance for the candidate to successfully complete the Mission Phase and be accepted as an Alpha Team member.

So after reading all of this if you still are interested in joining the Wildcards, please send an email to info@teamwildcards.com or contact us on the forum at teamwildcards.freeforums.org/index.php, and the Communication Sgt will answer any lingering questions, and provide you with the Basic Training Packet.

The Wildcards are based out of Castle Rock, Colorado. We play a majority of our games with Airsoft Colorado (http://airsoftcolorado.org) and play most of our Colorado games up in Pike National Forest, off of Rampart Range Road. Unless otherwise stated, that is where Basic Training will be held. Future training days will be published on both the Wildcard forums (under News and Events), and another public announcement will be made on the Team Recruiting forum at ASCO.
